Well it's been 9 days and 6 of 8 seeds are up and running. Seeds that
sprouted are:
1. 690 Sproule
2. 865 Mettler
3. 563 Geerts
4. 750 LaRue
5. 750+ LeGras squash
6. 700+ Holland
My Rockwell "darkhorse" 879 has not shown yet, as well as the famous 697
Ciliberto. I've heard that the Ciliberto has fair to low germination rates,
but hopefully it'll make an appearance soon. The LeGras and LaRue plants
have true leaves and rest are just showing the beginnings of them. Plants
will be put in greenhouses this weekend. The LeGras plant is showing best
growth so far.I'd like to put a squash in one of my plots, so I hope LeGras
keeps jamming.Did a thirst quench on both plots yesterday with liquid
seaweed/fish emulsion, last night our horses woke us up with a ruckus and we
spotted a bear near my plot. Must have been the smell of the liquid
fertilizer. Used the stuff as foliar feed last year and only had one bear in
the yard, but I didn't think the smell brought it in. I'm thinking that I
may see a problem this year with the bear if I use it heavily. Anyone need a
bear skin rug? Happy Growing Pumpkinpiper
