As a clarification, I do intend to plant my $1.95 seeds this year but I
will do so at the back of the garden (about 800' from my "good"
pumpkins). Out there, the pumpkins are on their own -- I will weed and
feed but I cannot get water to them nor protect them from the deer.
To restate my original question: Do smaller seeds tend to germinate
quicker than their bigger cousins?
All of the cheapies have sprouted. The Zehr 1061 has, as well. The other
seeds, billed as from 700-799 lb. AGs and from 800+ lb. AGs, have not. I
sanded about half of the little guys, the Zehr, and about half of the
others. All have been kept in the same environment (90 degree air temp,
83 degree soil temp, moist but not wet, plant-gro fluorescent lighting).
I'm holding out hope that the "premium" seeds that haven't sprouted are
just slow. I don't want to dig around in the pots in case the roots are
just forming.
