Her is an unusual solution that worked for me a couple of years ago (same
problem). First, you need to know a nurse or someone who works in a
hospital. There is a tape that they use in the E.R. to bind minor wounds (I
wish I could remember the name-mine ran out long ago). It's flesh colored
and streachy; and most of all permeable to air so it won't rot the vine if
you use it to close the wound. I used to take it hiking all the time and the
stuff is just great, but I've never found it in a store. If you can find it
give it a try, it woked really well for me.
