This is my first year growing AG. I can't give any advice on AG, but
holes in leaves is common on field pumpkins and other crops. Those crops
do the best they can with what leaves remain. Removing damaged leaves
reduces the amount of food the plant can produce.
Sometimes soybeans have almost no leaf area remaining but they still
produce a good partial crop.
If leaf damage was done by an insect that tranmits diesease such as
bacterial wilt, then trimming the damaged area might be useful. It is
the feces of the cucumber beetle which transmit the disease.
