Hey, Paul, sorry to hear about the germination problems. I find that true
with P&P. I got about 70% germination rate this year. Paul last year I
got zero......I planted those 700-799 seed last year, however I called P&P
and got more seeds to try for free.....they guarantee their product. I
found out that you must get the soil damp, not wet (last year my seeds had
a god awful smell from rot) and get that soil temp up to 85. I also use
Schultz Starting mix.....that is great stuff....all my seeds loved it this
year. Last year I was using Scotts.....I hated that stuff.
Connie, why did you give those plants away? My pumpkins were on display
at a local school last year, everyone wanted me to grow them some
plants......I told them it would cost (either beer or baseball tickets to
the Indians). Anyways, glad to hear you had success.......would like to
folllow-up on pumpkin production from those plants.
And, Paul, the vermonster will never beat my 1061 Zehr and the WPC champ.
I am giving my plants blood meal for dessert with a quick night cap of
miracle grow. This weekend it is suppose to be about 80 degrees here, that
will start accelerating the growth of these plants. We just had a few
inches of rain, and very cool weather. The heat will kick them in the
ass. Keep in touch and update the plant size.
