Did the Clones have a main trunk system like we typically think of? I didn't hear if they did? I don't know why I didn't think of them producing pumpkins I am just thinking of keeping the line alive to cross it with newer and hotter seeds so that in some cases you are grandfathering/great grandfathering the same seed line with the SAME pollen in years to come. You could have a seed line grown from a 567.5 Mombert and crossed by a 723 Bobier then every year the "same" 567.5 Mombert pollen be reintroduced to the resulting fruit the possibilities are endless !!!!
My opinion is that there are TOO MANY seeds produced each year for us to grow them to find out if the seeds are hot or not. Someone had to give the 723 A chance the first year and now look but how many other pumpkins are there with just as good of crosses that will never get tried?? at least if you use clones of great seeds people will be more likely to try them then an unknown seed of questionable parentage. That's just my two cents !?!?!?!?
Take care all and great luck next year !!!
