Is there anything in leaves I can't get from other sources to optimize my

I think leaves are just what most people have lying around
for a carbon/dry matter/whatever you call it source. Most
gardeners would rather compost them, till them into the
ground, or whatever, rather than put them in the landfill.
My "whatever" for leaves is to feed them to my miniature
dairy goats and then put goat poo/goat bedding in the
compost pile. ;-) My leaves are mostly mulberry and the
goats would rather eat them than any thing else. I actually
rake leaves and store them in my hay barn so they don't blow
away and the goats can have them for a longer period.
If you shred or crush your leaves before putting them in the
compost pile, they will take up much less room to start with.
Good luck whatever you decide,
Morgan
