Well beleive it or not our local news paper ( Newsday) did a story on my sons
missing pumpkin and an hour latter 2 of the smaller pumpkins were found and
returned by the police. They were found about 2 miles away on some's lawn!!!
The homeowner "claims" he woke up one morning and "found" the pumpkins on
his lawn. I was advised not to press charges because I could be sued by the
homeowner due to the fact that pumpkins do not have serial numbers or some
other means of marking them and registering them. Something has to be done
with our laws!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well alot of good has come from this, we had offers of pumpkins from all over
Long Island and news coverage as far away as New York City and Albany. All
of the neighbors came out yesterday and said they were wondering what
happened to the pumpkin they watched grow all summer, when they all found out
they were as mad as we were. They all said next year THEY ALL will be
watching my house and the pumpkins so the thugs could not get away with it
again.
Well thank all of you again, for the support and offers of pumpkins and
cards. Next year I think we should all work on some type of alarm system for
the pumpkins. Something simple but yet effective. ( I already have a few
ideas)
Again thanks to everyone,
Jim
