re: brown edges on leaves


Thanks - I think it may be a fungus called Alternaria Leaf Spot - the
symptoms and picture look right. The good news is that it is treatable.

pkinbumkin@aol.com also suggested that it may be due to overfertilising
which I think could be a factor as I had put some phosphorous rich stuff

down a few days earlier. Tony was also saying that he is having a
similar problem and thinks that it may be due to excess fertiliser. It
looks like NZ is winning the war, but it is early days yet so who knows.

I went to the nursery yesterday and described the problem, and they gave
me some fungicide with mancozeb as the active ingredient, it also has
some wettable sulfur in it. they said I should take a leaf into them so
they can examine it, but I only have 3 true leaves and I'm a bit wary of
chopping one off. I'll see how the fungicide goes and let you all know.
