Greetings Chris-re your query about this year.

My best plant out of 5 plots turned out to be a 946.5 Geerts 96.I started
seeds May 21 and pollinated late and both fruit were still growing when cut
from the plant. Both were perfect growers with no cracks, splits.oozing or
problems of any kind.

       853 Eaton 97--946.5 Geerts 96 x 758 MacDonald 96
                    -pollinated July 16,Sept 26-30 still averaging 4#/day
                    -OTT inches=342
-758 parents were #1 and #3 in world in '95

       664 Eaton 97--same plant,on a side vine,pollinated July 20
                    -pollinator 1006 Greer 96,OTT inches=317
-cut from plant Sept 10 to help 853 growth

In 98 half of my 6 plants will be from these fruit. This may be a bit lengthy
but I wanted to give you enough details to consider a trade for seeds from
your famous achieviement in 97.---------Best Regards----Al Eaton,Eastern
Ontario,Canada

P.S.Both males (758 and 1006) were crippled by the sun on an especially hot
day when the heat killed the growing tips of the main vine. This was my first
experience with this problem.Looking back,I think they were growing rapidly
with very tender buds in the main vine growing tips and since both vines
were heading south they couldn't take the heat and the tip was burnt. After
that, having only side vines to work with I concentrated on other plants.
There is no way of knowing what these plants might have produced,I can only
say they were excellent growers until I gave up on them.
