G'day group,
Just for a change from Mailing list issues I
thought I would report progress.
Pumpkin vines are doing well main vines about
1.5 m and several secondary vines about 1 m long.
The main vine is growing about 10-15 cm per
day.
I have a small hill that the plant is growing on
and it has therefore to drop a bit to get to the ground this has caused a split
on one plant in the main vine at the bend. It does not seem to be affecting
progress although it may have sped up the production of secondary
vines.
We have had some cool nights with temperatures
reported to be down to 1 C at night. I think my block is a bit more protected
and doesn't see these cool temperatures. Officially 2C is considered a frost but
I havn't seen any sign of frost.
I didn't get any response to my question on the
reported Jack and Sherry LaRue growing technique. Hopefully when they join the
group we will get some magic advice considering their successes.
Are there any experts on Kiwi fruit (Chinese
Gooseberries). I have a 2 year old female that flowered for the first time this
year. The male is about 5-6 meters away and I brought her some flowers just in
case.
It did not seem to work as the flower stems just
drop off. Does that mean there was no pollination or is there another
problem?
