In Australia, we have a very popular organic gardening personality, who
is a little bit off-beat (can I say nicely). She is written, what I
consider, a teriffic book entitled "the pumpkin book" by Jackie French.
This book gives a bit of pumpkin history Australian and Worldwide (I
must admit she has a bias for Australian pumpkins); she gives a
description of a large number of pumpkins including the Jarrahdale and
Queensland Blue; Australian pumpkin recipes; growing information,
harvesting and curing etc. There is a very small amount in the book
about giant pumpkins. This book has been written for Australian
conditions and Australians in general, but I think anyone with a strong
interest in pumpkins would be interested.
