Thanks Wendy,
I am just catching up on email since my visit to SA. It really looked green
in the Adelaide hills more than Melbourne.
I have looked at the Texas www site and at the Readers Digest Gardening book
as well as discussing the matter with my neighbour who is has a PhD in
related areas. My conclusion is that it must be a virus. This is based on
the fact that fungal diseases usually develop due to moisture whereas it has
been very dry. Also the leaves are curling up at the edges and distorted,
this is only described as a symptom of a virus. The Texas site describes a
virus called Curl Leaf.
In answer to your question. If you mean burnt as in black - no, but they do
go brown and dry right out.
