Underwater pumpkin carving

Hello everyone i am new to the list,
but on tv today i saw people carve pupkins underwater adn it's a new
compettion i guess. I know it's kinda late for me to join the lsit since the
season is over but i was wondering is compost better than manure for your
soil, i have a breand new garden i dug off the sod and i wanted to put premium
compost and top soil on, but i was sondering if composted chiken manure is
better.
