I am a first year pumpkin grower from Michigan. I grew prizewinner hybrid
pumpkins this year and I would like to save some of the seed for next year.
Is saving and replanting hybrid seed possible?
If so, are there any tips you can give me on the seed prep and storage
process. I just joined this list and I am in fear that I missed your
suggestions.
I already tried to save some, but I did not wash them and in a few days
many of showed signs of mold. (Oh, the pain!!!) I did however place them
on a screen, but I now guess they show have been washed?
Being my first year, I did not understand the different varieties of
pumpkins very well. When I went to the store and saw the name
"prizewinner" I thought I had the big AG's. Then during the summer, I
learned of the difference while visiting an internet site. I was very
disappointed!
But, I managed to grow 5 prizewinners that were around 150lbs. And a bunch
of smaller ones between 50 and 120lbs. It was a lot of fun.
Also, if anyone has any extra AG seeds I would gladly pay for them.
Thanks!
