Ag thoughts


Vickie,  It sounds like you are onto a good program.  By choosing from the
best phenotypic displays you will be able to breed out some of the genetic
problems.  It also sounds like you have the area and time to do this.  If
people are just growing the plant for fun and don't care about the results
its fine, but I've gotten the impression the alot of growers are expecting
big things to happen if they have a seed from the special plants.  For some
reason the seed from the cross-pollination has taken on a "hybrid vigor"
that is genetically not there.  I have nothing for or against self or cross
polination.  My problem is with the expectation at seed distribution.  I
realize that care and handling are a big part of the whole process, they
also should be the biggest variable not the genetics.  Roger
