Dan and Beth,
The soil symposium provided me with tons of info. and chances to
take 45 min. naps. I have around 50 pages of notes and eight
microcassettes filled with lectures. Over the next week I will be
indexing and compiling the info. Instead of posting a huge all
encompassing letter to the group, I am going to be sending packets of
the assimilated notes, and copies of handouts to individuals via the
mail.
As far as putting down your leaves this fall, I wouldn't be
worried, because you shredded them. I hope you did plant some kind of
cover crop! In the spring, you can actually-with some work-turn those
leaves into black gold. I was highly recommended to start a compost pile
this fall with leaves (carbon). After I drove home through the
snow(aaaaagh), I took all my bags of shredded leaves and created a big
compost pile. You may want to do this also, if possible, and if you
still have access to leaves.
Again, I will be mailing out a packet to you regarding the
information I learned, towards the end of the week. If you have any
emergency questions-email me and I will go through my notes and email
you back the suggestions I received.
Best of luck,
Buck
