MY PUMPKIN WAS DESTROYED

I don't even know how to write this, I just feel numb, and sick.
My main pumpkin that we had growing on my dad's friend's land, all covered up
and was keeping warm with hot water bottles (30 gallons) every night, that I
have been spending almost every waking moment on, and a lot of money in
fertilizer and floating row cover, etc., on for the last 4-5 months, was still
doing fine, and just turning orange. I couldn't wait until I got to take it
home and have SOMETHING to be proud of, to show for ALL that work. It was at
least 300 pounds, estimated. This other guy who runs the plow and tracter
there wanted to plow the land where we had the other stuff planted (some
tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, kale, peas, etc.)., but the guy who owns the
land said they would leave the pumpkin plants (which we planted in the back
area, where, in June, they SAID they would not be plowing at ALL. That's WHY
they had us plant back there), alone for another week or so, because the one
big 300 pouind one was just getting done. So Saturday we went and he had
plowed all over the land, but went AROUND the two pumpkin plants (the 618
Wallace with the 300 pounder, and the 627.5 Hester, which I still wanted to
get some fruit on, at least to get some seed). So he left those alone, and I
was happy. I figured then that the only thing we had to battle against was the
cold temperatures at night, and as long as we could beat that, we could maybe
get something from the Hester, and the 300 pounder would be finished at least.
Well, I was all happy because tonight would be the first night in awhile where
it would not go below 35-40 and we were going to get up to 65-70 tomorrow, and
some rain!
So I mixed up some fertilizer and we were going to remove the plastic tenting
(but keep the floating row cover on) tonight. I figured this would be GREAT
and really give everything a boost. So we went over there this evening, and we
looked out and everything was plowed up. ALL of the pumpkin plants were GONE.
The next thing that I was thinking is WHAT happened. So of course rihgt asway
we are figuring he must have moved the big pumpkin (since all our plastic
tenting and floating row cover was all piled up in a big pile on the side). So
we were trying to figure out what in the hell he did with the pumpkin. Then we
notice PIECES of it plowed right in the feild. Pieces of my 300 pound pumpkin
that I spent 4 freaking months growing. What the HELL GIVES ANYONE the right
to do this????????!
Oh, and as we look at the pieces, we notice that it seems ALL of the seeds are
GONE. This is BULL. We went up to talk to the guy who owns the property, and
he said he didn't know anything about it, and thought that Mike (his friend
who runs the plow and stuff) would go around the plants, and at least would
certainly not have DESTROYED the pumpkin. But it HAD to be him since it was
all obviouly PLOWED IN, so it's not like it was some random vandals. And he
wasn't there, the guy said he left about 3:00 PM or something. I don't know
WHAT happened, and I don;t understand any of it. All I know is that I didn't
spend my whole summer and all this work for someone to HACK IT UP WITH A PLOW.
ALL I know is that I am sick. I want to hear what this guy has to say about
this. NOTHING gives anyone a right to do this to someone elses property.
NOTHING. I want to find out who did this for sure and whoever it is is going
to pay me back for all the time and effort and MONEY that was spent on this
one pumpkin. This is NOT right. I don;t know what to do except feel sick and
cry. But mostly I am ANGRY and want to rip this guy's lungs out right now.
That's all I know. NOTHING gives him a right to destroy soeone else's 300
pound pumpkin. I don;t know what to do. We recovered all of the pieces we
found which isn't even half of the pumpkin. I don;t know where the rest is. I
don;t care how long it takes, but I am going to piece it all back together
somehow. And thsi guy is going to reimburse us for what he did. No one is
going to get away with this.
