Pumpkins - ready, steady, Grow

Hi Team

Us NZers are going well. We in South Taranaki have over two hundred and
fifty growers registered this year. El Presidento (Graeme Smith) who is
running the South Island site in Kaiapoi will have about fifty growers.
Tarcey Wilson and Trudee Harris are running the Kawerau site with
another fifty or so. We also have interest in another site in Rotorua
(by Kawerau) as a radio person who was keen to sponsor our comp but
could not because of our agreement with the rival station MAY set up a
site if they can get it together soon.

Don't forget that our competition is an official Council Recreation
project so we have excellent resources and sponsors to wind it up. The
others are relying on people working in their 'spare' time to get it all
going.

Wanganui (an hour South of us) who ran a comp' last year may not do one
as it was all organised by elderly folk who are not too keen this year.
They had small 'traditional' pumpkins. We kept away from them last year
as a lot of kids and older people entered. Their best was smaller than
the ones we chopped off so it was inappropriate to move in as
interlopers with our whoppers.

There is an antipodean pumpkin growers list which has Australian
traffic. The address is oz_giant_pumpkins@onelist.com
<o*@onelist.com>

I always send to both as you were all so generous in our hour of need
and there is obvious interest in how your seeds are doing over here.

Watch this space.

Have a 'Parky' day.
