Howdy from Hood River, OR.  I'm Jay Reynolds and this was the first year that my 9 year old son (Jan) and I have had the pleasure of growing Pumpkins.  Our great adventure was in growing a 151.2 lb'er from some seed bought in a regular package - Burpee I think.  

Anyhow, with daily foliar feeding and in spite of an atypically cool spring we managed a First Place in the Kids Division in our small town for which we were "richly" rewarded with 700#'s of Chicken Manure as our prize.

We've learned a huge amount from the list and appreciate all of the dialogue.  I emphasize ALL OF THE DIALOGUE so important to maintaining the sense of family.  Naturally, this includes the ability to convey our heartfelt best wishes to those of our family who have misfortune come our way.  'nuf said on that topic.

Like everyone else, we have BIG plans for next year and have negotiated with one of our neighbors for a bit more growing space as our pumpkins had spread out into the road.....
