Re: Clarence NY Weigh-Off Results
G (& list),
I brought the only squash to Clarence which was from the
Eaton1009.5(selfed). It was very pumpkin looking until about a month ago
when it started to turn green. About 70lbs light which was a little let
down. It weighed 504.8 as Andy has already mentioned. This leads me to a
question. Is this greening up genetic or environmental. The green started
at the stem end and crept around the sides and over the top leaving a spot
of orange on top near the blossom. The same thing happened two years ago
with my Bobier627. Started out as pumpkin as can be, then started turning
green in early Sept. Both of these were grown in virtually the same spot.
Both were shaded. One with a brown tarp, the other with a blue. Anyone
have any input? I'm not asking because I'm disappointed with green (relax
G). Just curious.
Had a great time at the weigh-off. What an awesome display of huge
pumpkins. I met some great growers. Very nice people.
