Pumpkin Metamorphosis

All............

Here are the end of season stats for my first year growing AGs:

     Lessons learned - plenty
     Mistakes made - even more
     250 Lbs - Green (226 OTT)
     245 Lbs - Orange (224 OTT)

One of my mistakes was planting too early, which means I've had my two
"pickling fruit" setting on the back porch now for over a month. They're
holding up quite well and will make it to Halloween just fine. However,
during the last couple of weeks I've noticed that the orange one (of the
creamy salmon type) is becoming increasingly green. What started out as
some light green patches down towards its resting side have spread to the
point that they now cover about 45% of the surface area. I've seen this
greening effect with Prizewinners where, once picked, the pale yellow
resting side slowly turns a dark forest green. But it doesn't invade the
orange. Here, the green is actually displacing the salmon orange. Is this
normal? At this rate I'll have a completely green squashkin by the end of
the month. Not that I'm complaining mind you, I think green is fine. I'm
just surprised.

Congrats to all who have weighed in so far and best of luck to all the rest
this weekend.

Thanks again Rocky for all the wonderful seeds.
