Kathie......was the eaten part rough or smooth? Sometimes slugs will do a
number on the fruit and leave smooth flesh. If it was a mouse or rat it would
be rougher and you certainly would see indications of teeth marks.Whatever it
was,it sounds like it was small and attacked from ground or sub-ground level.
Im told moles eat earthworms,grubs,etc and not pumpkins. They will disturb
roots and make it look like they've been eaten. My educated guess---and its a
guess--is its a bug,likely a slug/snail if smoothsurface; a mouse if
