No one answered but some one knows...
I had one in the pot on the windowsill and another in the ground. The
one in the ground, everything that could go wrong did. I suspect a
gopher, but might have been a mole, gnawed away half the roots. Bless
the survivors heart, ol' punk did what it could with the other half,
while I did what I could with a pile of rich loam piled over the wound.
When Survivor's finest fruit reached softball size, something ate the
skin off the bottom half of it, just the outer part, all the way around.
WHO are the usual suspects in this case? We have been plagued w/
raccoons, possums, and foxes here, plus the aforementioned gophers and
moles. No deer. If you know whodunnit, can you also recommend preventive
