Seeds up in NZ
The seeds are coming up now. The Armstrong 792, the Emmons 538 and the
Kincaid 192 are poking their heads out the seed mix. I am away for a few
days attending a conference in Wellington so I expect to see a big
difference when I get back with all their first leaves out
We have sent seeds to three centres in Kaiapoi, Kawerau and Invergargill to
get some competition going there.
We have almost 150 registered growers who have collected packets of seed so
far but there are a lot of people who kept their own seeds so we are hoping
for about four hundred growers and dare I say 150 pumpkin at the Pumpkin
Festival next April. We had a good launch in the Star Newspaper and Energy
FM who are our sponsors. Energy FM have talked about the pumpkin season and
festival for ages - well over and above the sponsorship agreement.
We also have some special seeds coming over from US as I speak so they will
go in ASAP and also some distibuted to other parts of NZ and to Tony and Co
in Oz. Reckon I should get some plants going and give then to the kids next
door to see if I can get them through the season seeing as how my two boys
have turned into teenagers and off to Uni' next summer.
