ok...I like brett's comment better. I think that instead of 25% green it
should be more like 60% green to be considered a squash. It does not take
much to make a pumpkin a squash with 25% green. I think the development of
green is not totally controlable by the grower. And if you can tell the
underlying color is orange, cream, yellow, pink or whatever, under that
green, it should be a pumpkin. Especially if you can tell with 35% green or
less.
In my case this year, i had a 876.5 lloyd pumpkin turn close to 90% green
(more of a grayish color actually) on me...and yes i do consider that a
squash, you could not see or tell an underlying orange, cream, or pink color
on more than 60% on it. If anyone wants to see a pic of my 590.5 from the
876.5 lloyd and see a pumpkin that turned to almost a real squash, send me
an email privately.
this is my opinion and suggestion.
