Re: Cultivars for hot humid climates


I doubt there is a seed out there that will produce pumpkins that won't
ripen in hot weather.  This is one of the reasons why it is so hard to grow
Atlantic Giants in warm areas, and why pumpkin weights tend to decline as
you move south.  Are you doing anything to keep your plants (and pumpkins)
cool during the hot days?  If not, you should. Shading the pumpkins and/or
using misters are just a few techniques that other warm-climate growers use.
