I have been receiving A LOT of virus-infected emails from people on this =
mailing list lately. You owe it to yourselves to be running some kind of =
virus protection software. I recommend McAfee but there are others a =
well. It is unfortunate that there are people in this world that get =
pleasure from writing malicious software but they are here to stay and =
we need to protect ourselves. It is much more costly NOT to have virus =
protection than it is to shell out the $50 bucks or so to purchase it.

this is what i send to people when i get these...

there is a particularly nasty worm around that makes it appear it is =
being sent from other peoples computers.

Hi,

you appear to be sending out a virus/worm. Other people also have =
similar problems.=20

"No, it's not us. We check our system regularly. It's a worm that has =
infected the system of someone who has our address in their address =
book. We've been getting infected emails ourselves - at least one or two =
a day - for the past month or two. Anyone infected who has your address =
in their book can send out infected emails that seem to be coming from =
your address. There are some truly sick people out there who have =
nothing better to do then dream up these nasty worms."

try software for free from www.my-etrust.com to prevent such problems.

Best regards

Mike,

We too have been getting several viruses daily from the list, I've been
having to clean infected files from my computer every day. Short of
quitting the list, what can we do? We have Norton protection but for
some reason some of the viruses are still getting through?

Well guys we are essentially done for another year. We have been through the
weighoff stage and the congratulations stage as well. Stay tuned. If things
go the way they usually do we will next see withdrawal and then
infighting.and then something about seeds and then genetics and then
germinating etc. Everything has its cycles.

I've only bought one, last year's, but I'd probably
buy it again. Some of the information is pretty basic,
some is more advanced. There is enough there for the
newbie and the experienced grower alike.

Its also an excellent way to spend a romantic 2 hours
with one's spouse.

Hi, I'm new on your list and I have a question. I purchased Norton Systemworks for $70 last year when it came out. It scans incoming and outgoing email on my computer. Why would it do that if viruses could only be detected after the infected email was downloaded? I haven't had any trouble since.
Also, my internet provider has installed some kind of virus protection and catches them as they go into their system. They always send me notification that I was sent an email w/an attached virus w/info on who it came from so I can notify them if I know them. (By the way, they delete it of course) Sometimes I've never heard of them! That's interesting how that works. Funny how some people have so much time on their hands that they have to mess up peoples computers. Maybe they should get a more positive hobby.... like growing pumpkins.....? :) Gloria Maddox

I am on about 15 lists and get all manner of virus's, worm's and such.
If you don't have an anti virus scanner and don't have money for one then a
good free scanner is available here http://www.grisoft.com/. AVG is free to
individuals and has free updates as well. I've used it with good success
for some time and it has worked as well as McAfee and Norton.

You can also help to reduce the risk of spreading virus's by sending all
your email in text format. This email was originally in html format and so
could have had a virus embedded within it rather than as an attachment.
