RE: Is this true?

NOT TRUE - If this had happened in the last nine years I know I would have heard something about it. Believe me since we have started weighing off these Giant Monsters I have received every kind of idea imaginable from people in the surrounding area. Including dropping a pumpkin onto or into all types of things from cranes or catapults, but I have never heard of dropping one from a helicopter.

I have heard of a radio station dropping ping pong balls from a helicopter the only problem with anything from a helicopter is the downward thrust needed to lift a helicopter adds about 100 mph of downward thrust to whatever your dropping. I would not want to catch those ping pong balls.

I will keep researching

My husband has kept our 410lb-er in the back of our pick up since our weigh
off 9/20. It never fails to draw a crowd no matter where it's parked. Today
one on-looker shared an AG story from when he lived in California. Sounded
like an Oakland area radio station bought an 800+lb AG for a promotional stunt
that involved lifting the AG with a helicopter up to 2000 feet and released
it. Sadly the plan didn't account for any lateral drift as the plummeting
pumpkin met with cross winds. Even sadder was when it came to rest on the
ground it was on top of a car.
True? I dunno.
It sounded like this may have happened several years ago.
Can anyone confirm? It's a great story just the same.
