David,
If you had svbs this year definitly get rid of the vines since their
larvae
over winter in the vines. Add leaves manure grass clipping etc.
Potting soil
is good.

Subject: organic matter
I'd like to add some organic matter to my soil this fall. Is it a good
idea to till the pumpkin plants back into the soil? I had problems
with
both mildew and SVB this year. Does that mean I should just get rid
of
the plants and add something like maple leaves instead. If it's OK to
use the pumpkin plants, should I compost them first or just till them
in?
thanks
