Vine sprouting

I have what seems to be a successful experiment so far.

I cut off several leaf nodes from a frost killed "1101 Northrup" vine and
thought to sprout them. It appears to be working. I have a nice root sprouting
from one of them already. I am using vitamin B1 in a weak solution when
I water them. I will be happy if I get just one viable plant out of this
for next year. I am using normal nursery potting soil. This would be nice since
I lost my big fruit to deer this year and mice got all the seeds.

Now I wonder just how big this (or these) plants will get before spring arrives.
Dang! Now I have to figure out how to slow down the growth rate. Keep it cool
I suppose.

Looks like this propagation method is not too difficult and could maintain a good
genetic line indefinitely. I just have to have a way to over-winter them and keep the
growth rate slow enough.

Regards,
Dave Squires
