I'm not sure I'm a big boy...but I do prep in the fall that consists of:

1. Bringing in a truckload of cow manure per hole? (8ft diameter, 2-3 feet deep)

2. Bringing in a truckload of compost per hole

I do not put soil in these holes, so the pumpkins start "afresh" each year with lots of good stuff.
