RE: Non-GPC weigh off

Thanks for the replies.  This is almost exactly the scenario I've got. I am
the only one involved in this weigh-off who even knew what an Atlantic Giant
was, so finding a qualified judge is pretty much out of the question.  I
know the fruit was good since it was practically flawless from a "soundness"
standpoint, but that was definitely not a certified scale for pumpkin
weigh-offs.  They actually had me set the pumpkin on the truck scale at our
local co-op.  So that means I have an Est. weight pumpkin, right?

Darren,
It is a major misconception that all official pkns must be weighed at GPC
sanctioned weigh offs.
You need a certified scale, witnesses, an AG rep is the best choice and
someone to judge the pkn making sure it is not damaged.
The GPC rules apply ONLY to GPC sanctioned weigh offs, recent history has
shown us that you can weigh your fruit anywhere and get official status.

Hey all,
 
I had a new PB this year with 500lbs.  Very fun.  We had a local big pumpkin
contest this year but it's not an Atlantic Giant weigh-off.  This is only my
2nd year and it's the first time I had one weighed.  My question is, is this
weight considered official,  and what do you all do with your pumpkins at
the end of the year?
