Not necessarily. This is just my opinion, but if it's a certified scale, it's a scale. If it gives you a number that's your weight. So, it's no longer an estimate.
At our local fair, we had a small scale, with a platform about 2 ft by 2 ft. We also had a huge truck scale, meant for weighing livestock. We decided to weigh my pumpkin on each scale.... it came out exactly the same on each.
