Congrats on the 73 pounds. The first year I grew 'kins I used store bought seeds and grew a modest 30 pounder. I was hooked. I ordered seeds for last year and did not get a single pumpkin that made it to harvest. I thought I had one about 70 lbs, but it was rotted on the bottom. This year I grew one that weighed 312. I had another one that taped at 230, but it rotted on me.
Stick with it. As for what to do with yours, I have mine sitting on a pallet in my driveway to 'show' it off. Of course I keep it covered most of the time w/ temps in the 40's. After Halloween I'll probably cut it up, get the seeds and put it in the garden for good luck next year.
Best of luck.
Debbie

Hello, I am a brand new member. I just grew my first pumpkin from home depot
seeds, weighing in at 73 lbs. I was so proud I entered it in the county fair
and they gave me a first prize, I guess our fair doesn't have very high
expectations. I am hooked on growing a bigger one now and I would like to buy
seeds to grow one of those really big ones. May I have the info. Also what do
you all do with the pumpkins after you grow them. Everyone is asking me what
I am going to do with it, and I said...pumpkin pies maybe?
