In review of the GPC top 10, it looks like Washington state did very
well this year. I thought this year was a bad year for our local
weather. The PNW in my opinion really did not have to allot warm weather
this year. I wonder if these large pumpkins were due to the
combination of rain and a few sunny days. All I know is, if Chris can
grow a large pumpkin, then all of us can do it to. Of course he lives
in an area with hot summer days, but I am confident I can grow a large
one next year. If I get above 500 pounds, I will be happy. I discussion
with some of the PNW growers, one of them told me he was applying 700
gallons a day on his pumpkin patch. 700 GALLONS A DAY? Do you know what
that would cost at the end of the month in water bills? I found out that
he has a well and running water in his back yard...320 Acres. Lets
see, .......hmmm.......I am going to have to read all of Chris's
postings on the Archives and see what he did to get this large pumpkin.
Maybe I can get Chris to compose his notes and I can make a homepage for
him for all of us to read. I think this homepage idea will take some
time, but I'll keep on poking him in side to support all us "Chris
want-a-bees".
Congratulation Chris, and hope to see you on the Tonight Show.
