Pumpkin Diseases and Their Control
Richard X. Latin, Extension Plant Pathologist
Pumpkins grown for the fresh market or for processing are threatened
each year by several infectious diseases, including powdery mildew,
bacterial
wilt, and black rot. Although these diseases may affect different plant
parts and occur at different times during the growing season, they all
can result in
serious yield losses and reductions in market quality. Other pumpkin
diseases occur less frequently but occasionally cause significant
losses. This
publication addresses the pumpkin diseases that occur in Indiana and
their control.
