I have a detailed account of it in the good old Rodale's "How to Grow
Vegetables and Fruit by the Organic Method" Encyclopedia and might be
willing to encapsulate it for you if you can't find it (it's pretty long --
lots of typing).
Basically it involves dumping loads of straw or hay or any organic leafy
mulch right on top of your soil and then planting in that. Worked well for
some things and not so well for others. Don't know if pumpkins would be one
of them.
