Richard,
Theives don't like noisey alarms. I USED to have problems with kids
rolling my AG's down the hill while they were still growing on the vine.
I installed an old car alarm using mouse traps as the triggering device,
when the Pumpkin was disturbed the mouse trap would close and activate
the alarm. I used a cheap transformer to step the power down from 110
volt to 12 volt. This was an inexpensive way to help protect my pumpkins
I worked so hard for.
I later improved It by using cheap fence, the stuff they use when they
pour a concrete driveway. I hooked it up to a Radio Shack house alarm
and used mercury switches on the fence so if it was moved or climbed it
would activate. I also used the mouse traps under the Pumpkins.
Sounds like a lot of trouble to go through but when I work so hard I
hate to loose it to some punk.
