I am with you Marv on the sad little pumpkin patch. Although I must admit, it
is really pretty funny how you describe your little "rather small groundhog
reject (ate everything else)" If nothing else, that has me laughing! Ha ha.
None of the seeds I planted worked. I thought for a while that I was going to
at least have a Giant Squash to look forward to, but alas that too bit the
dust :( I did however; end up with a crop of "store bought pumpkin size"
pumpkins that accidentally popped up after my husband rotortilled the patch,
getting it ready for planting. God works in Mysterious ways, and I am happy
for the little guys out there in my patch. For next year however; I would
love to get hold of one of those KUHN seeds that I have been reading about on
this list. I also do Genealogy and one of my surnames is KUHN. I think it
would be only fitting if that were my seed of choice! :) Does anyone have an
extra one that I might *try* to grow?

Pumpkin People:
The dust has not yet settled on the patch and the online battle begins. I
read
the post from Farmer Gus and another post stating that the prizes at Clarence
were less than expected. I was depressed enough at my rather small groundhog
reject (ate everything else) but to contemplate winter starting out with
these
posts appearing so early in the season may be more than a 1998 loser can
stand. Where is Pumpkin Witch? Already I am in need of either psychotherapy
of
a positive spell from the "Witch." Maybe Pumpkin Flower can help? I will
need
more than a poem to lift my spirits. All I have to show for this year are
some
dynamite seeds for next year. Ray Waterman told me my seeds I sent to him
have
been doing well. I have more and only wish this was May so I could begin. I
saw where Chris Andersen had a 444 pound pumpkin this year after a 977 last
time out. Since I had 444 this year will I come up with 977 next?
