Well fellow AG fanatics, it's over for another season, one where I reached
another personal best and one where I met a great many new neat people. My
wife and I thouroughly enjoyed the weigh off at Carnation and I was
finally able to put faces with the names that have been seeing on the list.
I especially would like to thank Jack LaRue for introducing me to many of
the growers and to Geneva Emmons for sending me the map of the area and
suggesting accomodations for Friday night.
I said the season is over. Well, actually it's beginning all over again.
Tomorrow I'll be putting putting three loads of manure on the garden along
with lime. Have to start replacing the nutrients that these monsters sucked
up during this past summer.
As for my 764 van Kooten '98 (hey, I like that), It will go on display for
awhile before the seeds are harvested. To those of you that had requested
seed, I will send them out when they are properly dried.
This year's been a hoot. Before we know it, we'll be doing it all over
again.
Jake van Kooten, Port Alberni, B.C.
