Re: Longevity

Greetings:

I set out my plants on the 11th of March '98 and they were still growing and
blooming when we pulled half of them up mid-August. We left a few for another
month, and when they were pulled, they had a tough bark-like substance growing
on their stumps.

My field was in Central Florida. Perhaps lat/lon has something to do with it.
No frost to interfere, nor cold weather to slow growth. Plenty of sunshine, to
a fault.

Never thought to inquire to find out if pumpkin plants are determinate. I was
certainly lucky to have plants last that long, but really chalk it up to luck,
weather and personal attention to the plants. May not be able to duplicate
that.

One most important thing I must add, our weather was too hot to set very many
fruits. So, what good is a bushy, healthy plant if everything you set aborts?
