PUMPKINS SHAPE

hello to you all....i was just wondering why everyone grows their pumpkins on
the side?     wouldn't it have a nicer shape if they grew it in an upright
position?  i only grow pumpkins here in HAWAII for my children for halloween
and last year was my largest one about 20 lbs! but it has nice jack-o-lantern
shape.      would anyone have seeds that the pumpkins have really nice jack-o-
lantern shape?  they don't have to be 800 lbs.  but next year i would really
like to plant big ones to freak out my children and all the trick-o-treat
children that come for candy! that would really be fun!
