Records

Hello folks,

I notice that the world top weight has increased by 30 lbs over the last two
years as compared to 30 lbs a year a few years back. It may be a little
early to say so but this may indicate a flattening out of the record weight
curve.
There may be some upper limit on the weight of AGs and 1500 lbs may be too
optimistic a weight to aim for at least in the next 10 years.
The new record is very close to the half metric tonne and half imperial ton
which may be more achievable.

Has anyone tried doing a least squares fit with a second order polynomial to
top weights by year and see what that looks like?

Another interesting statistic may involve looking at what pumpkins are
exceeding the average OTT weight curve by a good margin. It seems to me that
to get better weights in future we need to be looking at pumpkins with
thicker flesh which are stronger and better able to stand up to the
mechanical stresses imposed by the large size and weights
