I have drafted a new formula for calculating pumpkin size that has a chance
to improve on Stellpflug's and Marcellus' tables, especially for gourds
that are way less than round. I could use some help gathering data to test
it with tho.
Could I get a few volunteers to measure AGs they still have on hand?
I need a maximum side-to-side diameter, a minimum side-to-side diameter,
and the pumpkin's height, plus the true weight measured on a scale. (These
are straight line distances - they shouldn't follow the curve of the
pumpkin). If you have the OTT measurements (all three of them) please
send them along too; it will help me run the comparison.
The formula estimates the pumpkin's volume, and uses the tables to correct
for the way pumpkin density decreases with size.
thanks!

PS: Leonard, Bob, if you are out there could you send me an email? I'd
like to talk with you about the approach and get your thoughts.
