Well said, Well spoken Wayne.. Also same goes for Doug Keel, Steve, and all
other realists out there... I cant wait to call MR Bobier or maybe I will drop
by his house, I live 30 minutes from him.. The answer to some of your points
are easy.. He does what it takes to grow the largest, which I can fully
understand, as we all do that on this list. If he only knew that he can find
Lloyd 935's on this list that people would trade or (dare I say) sell, he would
probably be here. I traded with Tim Herring last year for a Lloyd 935 and have
it waiting for the 2000 growing season. As far as Bill goes, he did what he had
to do to get great seeds, understood. After acquiring the seeds, he went to
where the money is, and now he is $10,000 dollars richer. Very nice. But if we
had a GPC site here in Elmira New York (45 minutes from his hometown) as we are
thinking of doing next year, he still wouldnt come here, cause the prize money
isnt big enough.. Ray keeps the top 5 pumpkins, which he may give the owner of
the pumpkin 30 or so seeds back, depending on what he gets out of each one. The
top 5 at Clarence this year included a 986, an 837, a 718, a 687, and a 673.
With pumpkins of "much smaller" size than expected for that big prize money,
look for those current prices to go up in the next catalogue..
