Ma or Pa?

Just curious...

when deciding which seeds to plant, whose genes play a greater part in a
pumpkin's growth, the male or the female?  I would think it would be a
crap shoot but has anyone looked into this?

ie  would I choose a seed with a heavy father or a heavy mother?
