Take petrolleum jelly and spread it on all the cuts that you make on the
pumpkin even on the lid. This will keep it from drying out, I take my
carved pumpkins and put them in the bathtub and let them soak for a couple
of hours or so. They absorb water like a sponge and will crack from taking
up to much. If your pumpkin is to big for this fill the inside up with
cold water and it will soak that up just as well. I do this every year and
my pumpkins last for up to three weeks looking fresh. And its cheap.
