pumpkin wine
I haven't tasted pumpkin wine in twenty years but hearing you guys
talking about it has put a fire under my behind .I didn't make any wine at
all last year I started my wine today. A 90 bottle batch when its done. I
have been making wine off and on for about 15 years. this is my first batch
of pumpkin wine. when I was a young feller I went back to my old neighbor
hood. a few years after I left home. an old couple I did odd jobs for
when I was a kid were sitting on the porch I walked up to chat with them
and the old feller disappeared into the house and reappeared at the door
with tray with a wine bottle a bottle of coke a tray of ice and three
glasses he pored about a shot in all three glasses .handed them out .he
sniffed his swirled it in his glass then down the hatch. Me and the old
girl followed suit this wine was like a port but heavier and smooth .he
says got a kick don't it 21% alcohol then he took the glasses back put a
shot and half in each glass some ice and toped it up with coke . try that
he says. Just like rum and coke says I. This is how we prefer to drink it
tone it down a bit. It is like rum says he .I make it with brown sugar he
says pumpkin wine. when the wine is done I will toast these old folks long
gone and you folks. to your good health This couple lived to be 88 and 89
years
