Factoids for consideration

Here are a couple of things I observed this year.

When I put a pumpkin over a bed of sand which was at least two inches deep
and was bigger than the base of the pumpkin, the pumpkin had a flat bottom.
Grown on pure dirt, very concave bottom.
"Thin" sand bed - some convavity.
So do with that what you will.

Wet ground and growth - I grew a pumpkin "on its head," that is, with the
stem end down, this year. It was the buffer fruit in case of rain, etc., and
I just did not care that it was not going to grow correctly. It was also
right over a dropper in my drip irrigation system. That means it spent three
months in light mud. How did it turn out? Healthy as can be. No rot or fungus
problems.
So, we'll put that in our data bank and see what it correlates with.

Anyone wants to send me some seeds for a 900+ pound fruit next year, I will
cheerfully accept. And send you pictures of the results.

John
